AKTAS is a gold deposit

OVERVIEW Location:

Aktogay district, Karaganda region, Republic of Kazakhstan. 200 km away from the city of Balkhash, which is the nonferrous metallurgy center in Kazakhstan. The right of subsoil use: Contract No.1567 was concluded with the authorized body in 2004. The contract is valid until 2033, with a possibility to extend the production period. The deposit consists of three sections: Aktas-I, Aktas-II and Polymetallic. Total area of the geological allotment is 3.5


The railway station and the village of Sayak are 40 km away from the deposit. Population is 3669 people. Power supply of the housing settlement is made through the high-voltage power transmission line from Balkhash TPP. Main communication lines for the district are the railroad Balkhash – Sayak -Aktogai and the IV class earth road.


The company is interested in the partner for construction of the gold recovery plant at the deposit Aktas. According to the preliminary calculations, the capital investments for the construction of GRP make up 30.939 mln. US dollars. Net income for the whole period will be 64.928 mln US dollars. The payback period made up 5.7 years. With the gold cut-off grade 0.5 g/t, the internal rate of return (IRR) will be 20.64%. The company is ready to consider different partnership options, including sale of up to 100% project share.


The authorized body in 2011 assigned the reserves of Aktas II to the C2 category as follows: ore – 3798 thsd.t, gold – 4901 kg, with average content of 1.29 g/t. For the ore and gold reserves increment, in 2014 – 2016, core drilling of 13,730 LM, 6,644 cubic m of ditches, analytical study of samples by atomic absorption and assay methods were made. Technical metallurgical studies were performed. In addition, the Feasibility Study of Industrial Conditions and Calculation of the Gold Reserves of Aktas-II and Aktas-I in Karaganda Region Report was prepared and reviewed.


Only the gold has an industrial and commercial value among the ore components. According to the electronic probe analysis, the high karat gold (97.48 - 98.79%) is found in a free state in the ore. There are practically no such harmful contaminants as arsenic and antimony. All studies (gravitation, flotation, cyanide desalination) demonstrated the closer gold extraction values, received from the ore, which are basically within 75 - 85%. The mineral resource base prospects are the predicted resources Р1 + Р2 of Aktas 1, 2 and Polymetallic, which make up around 60 tons. One should note that there is the prospective gold ore exposure, 7.65 sq.m, in this area, 8 km away from the deposits. The prospect mapping drillholes 400 х 400m were drilled in this area, where the gold mineralization zones 1.3-9.5 m and with the gold content from 0.5-1 g/t to 1.85-2.07 g/t, are located. According to the geological map of the Sayak ore field, there are many gold and other solid minerals exposures nearby.

Results of 3-year long geological exploration:

1. On December 7, 2016, the State Reserve Committee of the RoK approved 14,708 kg of gold reserves at the deposits of Aktas-I, Aktas-II, under C1 + C2 categories. 2. Average gold content across deposits is 1.27 g/t; 3. The selected gravity recovery is the most economically efficient method. The technology is based on two-stage gravity recovery with a saleable concentrate obtained. Gold extraction into the gravity concentrate amounted to 77.4%. Gravity concentrates obtained (recovered products) can be either sold or processed in situ by the cyanide agitation digestion method. Dissolution degree of gold from the gravity concentrates are very high and for all samples of Aktas II and Aktas I reach 94 - 98%

Predicted resource results of the gold mineralization at Polymetallic

In 2014-2016 the drilling made up 370 LM (3 wells) at the Polymetallic deposit; 694 cubic m of ditches were drilled through; the predicted resources were estimated at the level of Р1 + Р2 category. The wells 20 p, 21 p, 22 p crossed the ore bodies from 2 to 6 m with the gold content of 2.5 - 37.5 g/t. Due to the positive data, the mineralization shall be further explored and appraised.
